Software Engineer: Java and C++

Princeton Satellite Systems is seeking a software engineer to help develop innovative applications, particularly Java web services, in the area of aerospace and defense. You'll work on a small team with experienced aerospace engineers to maintain and upgrade our existing applications and develop new software based on cutting-edge research and development.

This job may be located in Albuquerque, NM, supporting the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) Space Vehicles Directorate at Kirtland Air Force Base. Alternate locations are Plainsboro, NJ and Champlin, MN. A remote location (working at home) is possible although not preferred. Please specify your location preference, or if you have none, when responding. Some travel will be required to our government customers, usually not more than once a month.

Requirements:

• Strong working knowledge of Java
• Experience (5+ years) developing and deploying JEE solutions utilizing web service and SOA technologies
• BS or equivalent in computer science
• Ability to self-motivate and work independently to accomplish tasks
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• US citizen

Desirable:

• WebLogic, Axis
• C/C++ experience, especially in a UNIX environment
• Objective-C and MacOS X experience
• Cocoa and related technologies (CoreData, etc)
• OpenGL programming
• Familiarity with MATLAB
• Experience managing small groups of software engineers
• Strong mathematical background

Summer Interns

Our interns work on technical research programs involving spacecraft guidance, navigation and control systems.Candidates should have a background in control and spacecraft dynamics. Experience writing MATLAB, C++, and/or Java software is desirable and will be a substantial part of the job.

Internships are located in Plainsboro, New Jersey. Decisions on summer interns are made annually in April.

Responsibilities will include:

• Supporting various technical research efforts on missile defense, spacecraft formation flying, launch vehicles and wind energy
• Extensive MATLAB, C and C++ software programming, ex. simulation models and control algorithms
• Writing memos and reports

Requirements:

• Working towards a degree in engineering or science
• Ability to work independently
• Willing to learn new programming languages as needed
• US citizen
