PSS has purchased two kits to experiment with vertical axis wind turbines. One is a kit sold by WindStuffNow.com
The generator is an axial flux 3 phase permanent magnet generator. The turbine blades are arranged in a vertical axis configuration.
The second is a kit sold by LearnOnline.com which provides a serial to USB connection. We have connected the wind turbine USB interface to VisualCommander so that now you analyze the wind turbine data using VisualCommander and any software packages that you have interfaced to VisualCommander.
We replaced the included USB to Serial adaptor with a Keyspan USA-19HS adaptor which has Mac OS X drivers
